Shy Justice Breyer
During his remarks, the president paid tribute to retiring Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer.
“Tonight, I’d like to honor someone who dedicated his life to serve this country, Justice Breyer: an Army veteran, constitutional scholar and retiring justice of the United States Supreme Court. Justice Breyer, thank you for your service,” Biden said.
As attendees stood to applaud Breyer, the justice appeared briefly overwhelmed and taken aback by the praise, covering his face with his hands and standing up with his hand on his heart.
